Northern Tahoe Rim Trail

Woof!

Week of November 4, 2013

For day one of Kiddo and me on our own, we went west on the northern part of TRT, west of the Brockway trailhead on 267. We made it about 8 miles to Watson Lake. We had a little intro to swimming class, but Kiddo seemed tired from the walk. From there we headed back to the truck and about a mile drive to where we are camped. It's so nice having the tent up and ready so I can just cook (good food too), relax, and do doggy training.

The next day was up to the top of Mount Baldy, NV, where I got to use my crampons for the ice. They helped a lot and made the ice hiking a lot faster and safer. Kahtoola Microspikes, from what I heard and tested, are the only way to go for crampons. They're easy on and off and ya can't even feel them.  Also, I got halfway with my snowshoe search. I found a broken one that I fixed with a little magic.

Next we're off too highway 50 on the northern side of TRT. We will hike 3 days there.
