For the next few days I was base camped in back country off Hwy 89, south of Lake Tahoe.
Day One was breakfast at South Lake Tahoe McDonald's, as usual, for internet and coffee. We headed up Hwy 89, parked, and had a 15 mile day to Freel Peak of the Carson Range in California.
Next day, we woke up to a cold morning. We climbed a high, steep hill with lots of rocks, boulders, and snow. The hike today went to the PCT where the TRT joins on the south side. Back at camp I cooked a good dinner of rice, brie, and baguette. Time to hop in the tent at 5pm, read on the Kindle until 10pm, and sleep.
